  A Team Delta teacher!

Brian Jettinghoff, BA Education, WSU

I grew up in a small town in Northwest Ohio, Delphos. It is a town of
about 7,000 people and largely agricultural. I grew up working on
family members farms and raised pigs for numerous years. My
first "official" job came when I was 8 years old.  From there, my
second job came when I was 13, through JH and HS. I also picked up a
second job at my highschool for awhile during highschool.

I come from a big family, but my immediate family is quite small. I
only have 1 brother who is 27. His is now married and has a son who is
2. So I am officially an uncle. I am also extremely close with another
family. So I often say I am lucky and have 2 sets of great parents. In
that family I have 3 sisters (19,17,15). Many people do not know I'm
actually not relation but see me as relation because I am around often.

I went to highschool at Delphos Jefferson. Its 1 of 2 schools in the
small town of 7,000. Through school I started playing football, which
led to running cross country and track. Also on the side I
participated in the band playing the trombone and became the John
Phillip Sousa awardee. I was president of the band and captain of the
Cross Country team. I was also a member in the National Honor Society
and particpated in the school play 4 straight years. I was delegated
to represent Jefferson High School at the American Legion Buckeye Boys
State. Late in my highschool career I won the American Legion
Americanism test.

I decided to become a teacher because of my JH and High School SS
teacher. I didn't want to move too far away so I chose WSU which is
about 2 hours away. My major has always been Social Science Education.
I was on the Deans list every quarter (BUT 1). My senior year was by far the

busiest, but the greatest. I became a member in Kappa Delta Pi and

took over as President soon after. Also I became a member in Phi Alpha
Theta. I also taught a freshman seminar class and became the 2006
Outstanding Student of the Year in Social Science Education. I
graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.7 GPA.

I just received the Graduate Tuition Scholarship from WSU and look
forward working at Fairborn High School for the year and getting my
masters.
